Unsurprisingly, there was a 515% increase in the number of searches on Youtube for the term “online workouts” in 2020, according to statistics gathered by Hootsuite. The astonishing rise of at-home workouts was evidence of this and gyms and studios found out very quickly that providing an online offering to their members was the only way to survive.
But not everyone was content to sit on the couch all the way through the lockdown. With the majority of us confined to our homes for the past 12 months, phones, tablets, laptops, and TVs became the main source of entertainment for a lot of people around the world – more so than usual. 2020 was definitely the year of the screen.
